Free is certainly the operative word for this funky fusion workout from Chicagoan sax stayer John Klemmer.
Still in the morning of what has proved a long, varied and illustrious career, he cut this wildly accomplished tenor sax rant that swings, roams and eventually boils over into unrestrained shrieks for 1969’s Blowin’ Gold.
The groove is heavy too – and a popular hip hop sample – but really it’s all about Klemmer’s blisteringly intense, stream of consciousness freak-out.
